Power & Construction Group, Inc. has an opening for an Entry Level Electrician with the Industrial Electric Division!
Salary Range: $20-$25/hr. with increases as you progress through the apprenticeship program
Location: Rochester, NY
Position Summary:
Power & Construction Group is looking for a motivated and dedicated Entry Level Electrician to join our team. This is an entry-level position that provides hands-on experience and structured training necessary to become a licensed Journeyman Electrician. We intend to sponsor this individual in our New York State Department of Labor approved Electrician apprenticeship program.
The ideal candidate is reliable, committed to work, eager to learn, safety-conscious, and interested in a career in the electrical trade.
Responsibilities:
This position will work under the supervision of a Master Electrician. Duties of the entry level Electrician will include, but not be limited to:
- Assist with Installations: Pull wire, drill holes, run conduit, install lighting fixtures, outlets, switches, panel boxes and other equipment in commercial, or industrial settings.
- Material Handling: Load, unload, and transport tools, equipment, and materials to the job site. Organize and maintain inventory.
- Tool Operation: Safely and proficiently use hand tools and power tools common to the electrical trade (wire strippers, voltage meters, conduit benders, saws, drills).
- Troubleshooting & Repair: Assist with the diagnosis and repair of electrical malfunctions under direct supervision.
- Site Preparation & Cleanup: Maintain a clean and safe work area, including sweeping, removing debris, and properly storing tools and materials.
- Code Compliance: Become familiar with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local building codes; ensure all work adheres to these standards.
- Safety Adherence: Strictly follow all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times and maintain a vigilant focus on safety.
- Documentation: Complete required paperwork, such as time sheets, work logs, and material requisition forms accurately.
- Continuing Education: Attend and actively participate in required classroom instruction and training as part of the formal apprenticeship program.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Previous enrollment in or commitment to enroll in a New York State Department of Labor recognized electrical apprenticeship program is mandatory.
- Previous construction or electrical experience is a plus but not required.
- Basic understanding of tools and mechanical principles.
- Punctual, reliable, and possessing a strong work ethic.
- Strong communication skills; able to communicate effectively with supervisors, team members and customers.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license with at least three years of driving experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to working safely and following all company and OSHA guidelines.
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), climb ladders, stand for long periods, and work in various weather conditions.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds.
