Power & Construction Group, Inc. has an opening for a Safety & Training Consultant with the Safety Division! This role will support our Environmental, Industrial Electric, Signalization, and Street Lighting divisions. This position works on-site with our team members and reports directly to the Director, Safety & Training.
Salary Range: $90000-$110000
Location: Rochester, NY
Primary Function and Scope:
The Safety & Training Consultant will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety programs and training initiatives to ensure a safe, compliant work environment on our job sites and in our shops. This role involves partnering with assigned divisions to proactively identify and address safety issues and promote a strong safety culture. This role will be the partner to our Environmental, Industrial Electric, Signalization, and Street Lighting divisions.
Specific duties of this role will include, but not be limited to:
- Conduct site safety visits.
- Ensure the fulfillment of safety responsibilities, such as toolbox talks and compliance with safety administrative / compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with Division Managers and supervisors to improve safety performance.
- Investigate workplace incidents and work to implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain Site Specific Safety Plans for the various Electrical related divisions, and in collaboration with other divisions on joint projects.
- Maintain Personal Protective Equipment stock for Maple Street location in coordination with the corporate office; ensure UTILIZATION of appropriate PPE.
- Determine division training needs and work with Training team to deliver as required; provide safety and/or operational training to employees.
- Proactively work to identify and remedy safety and health threats.
- Attend trade shows, conferences, and professional development opportunities that align with divisions.
Qualifications:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in safety management, engineering, industrial hygiene, or a related field preferred.
- Experience as a line worker in an electric utility.
- A GENUINE care for the safety and well-being of people.
- Knowledge of construction practices.
- Familiarity with electrical safety regulations (OSHA, NESC, etc.).
- Strong safety orientation; deep knowledge of construction safety and health laws, regulations and procedures.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.) or equivalent.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
- The working conditions are a combination of office, shop and on construction sites.
- Employee must have the ability to move through a construction job site, including walking, standing, and climbing stairs or ladders.
- Must be able to work in various environmental conditions, including noise, dust, fumes, and varying temperatures.
- Able to lift up to 25 pounds regularly.
Any offer of employment is contingent upon passing a DOT Physical, drug screen, and driver’s license check. Candidates must maintain passing results throughout the term of employment with P&CG.
